Driver hurt as car squeezed between buses

A MAN was seriously injured after the car he was driving was sandwiched between two city buses and reduced to about half its length at the viaduct exit to Guohe Road in Yangpu District at around 7:45am this morning, Shanghai Evening Post reported.

A blue BYD F0 collided with the rear of a transit bus in front of it and then was hit from behind by another city bus about 200 meters from the Wujiaochang area. The small car was squeezed to about half its normal length, police said.

The car driver, in his forties, remained conscious despite serious injuries to his head and hand. He was sent to a hospital but no additional information was available about his condition.

No injuries were reported on the buses.

Police said the bus in front of the car may have braked suddenly. The car and bus behind it may have been following too closely and lacked time to stop safely.
