Driver nabbed for transporting gas cylinders

A driver was caught in the suburban Qingpu District for illegally transporting more than 100 gas cylinders for sale, city police said today.
The driver, surnamed Zhang, was seized at a checkpoint near a highway ramp on the night of March 15, police said.
The suspect did not have any transportation permit for carrying dangerous goods and tried to cover the cylinders with beer bottles, according to the police.
Zhang confessed that he would sell the cylinders in neighboring Zhejiang Province.
Qingpu police said they have detained nine people, including Zhang, for illegal transport of dangerous materials this year and confiscated more than 1,000 gas cylinders.
