Drunken driver jumps into muddy field to evade police capture

A drunk driving suspect gave up his car and jumped into a muddy paddy field when seeing police setting up a block ahead yesterday evening, Songjiang police said today.
The incident happened at about 8:30pm on Chenta Road in Songjiang District. The driver, surnamed Chen, was captured from the paddy field by the police right away and given a breath test.
The test estimated that he had 83mg alcohol per 100ml blood in his body, which would make him pass muster for drunk driving.
Chen was then taken away for blood tests with his car temporarily seized by the police.
