East meets west

The Hangzhou Pavilion at the Urban Best Practices Area yesterday creates a venue for cross-cultural exchange.

The Hangzhou Pavilion at the Urban Best Practices Area yesterday created a venue for cross-cultural exchange by blending green tea and red wine, brass bands and Yueju Opera performances.

Tea customs and cultures were on show as five tea craftsmen wearing ancient Chinese costumes performed Longjing tea brewing. The water was collected from Hangzhou's West Lake, Qiantang River, canals, Xixi Wetland and the Hangzhou Bay.

Meanwhile, quality wine from the Rhone wine region, Madrid and Venice were offered and wine cultures of different regions were promoted.

About 200 pavilion directors and representatives were invited to savor tea and sip wine, and appreciate brass band and Yueju Opera performances at the same time.

Hangzhoo's pentagonal pavilion has the theme "Harnessing Five Waters," involving Hangzhou's West Lake, Qiantang River, canals, Xixi Wetland and the East China Sea.
