Emergency landing linked to bottle top
A BOTTLE top is said to be the source of a scare that forced a passenger jet to make an emergency landing en route from Hong Kong to Shanghai.
The Juneyao Airlines flight left Hong Kong International Airport for Pudong International Airport at 7:50pm on Monday, but once in the air passengers reported a strange sound near the cabin.
Crew checked the area but failed to find the source of the sound, so about 9pm decided to divert the flight to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport in Fujian Province.
Technicians found a bottle top stuck in the cabin door and once it was removed the problem was solved, reported Xinmin Evening News.
A Juneyao Airlines official said the issue is still under investigation.
Passengers were put up in a local hotel and continued their journey to Shanghai by other flights yesterday.
