Emergency repairs underway as water pipe breaks near major ramp

A water pipe near the off-ramp at Hongmei Road S. on the Outer Ring Road broke on Wednesday morning, and the ramp is still closed to traffic now, Shanghai Road Administration Bureau said this afternoon.

The pond which formed at the ramp is over 10 centimeters deep, and three water pumps have been draining the water on the site, the bureau said.

Emergency crew from Shanghai SMI Raw Water Co are working there to repair the pipe, but the cause of the broken pipe hasn’t been announced yet.
