Emperors, empresses put on a show at airport

YOUNG volunteers dressed up in Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) imperial costumes staged a parade at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport's Terminal 2 yesterday to celebrate the Spring Festival.

More than 30 volunteers from the airport and airliners joined the parade. Some dressed up as emperors and empresses while others wore the costumes of princes and princesses. They sang songs and danced modern dances to add a festive atmosphere to the busy airport as people return to their hometowns for the holiday .

Many passengers were attracted by the scene with some stopping to take photos.

Volunteers said they will also stage the parade today at 10am and 1:30pm.
