Equestrian event trots into town for tourism festival

An equestrian performance will be staged in front of Oriental Pearl TV Tower during the Shanghai Tourism Festival, which begins on September 13.

It’s the first time an equestrian event will take place in the city during the festival.

Riders and horses from Europe will perform a show on both September 27 and 28 from 5pm to 7pm.

An exhibition about horses in ancient China will be held from September 26 to 28, including lectures by professional horse trainers.

Organizers said the time was right to host an equestrian event because it's the Year of the Horse according to the Chinese lunar calendar.

Shanghai held its first five-star equestrian show-jumping event in June.
