THE number of people applying for postgraduate studies in Shanghai hit a record high as education authorities said yesterday the exam to be held on January 5 to 7 has attracted a total of 120,000 applicants, more than the 108,000 people this year. Many college graduates said they choose to sit for the exam to continue academic studies in the face of intensifying pressure from the job market. In 2011, 105,000 people applied for postgraduate studies in the city.
