Exchange students enjoy life in Shanghai
DESPITE cultural differences, international exchange students said they find it easy to live in Shanghai because the city is well developed.
Derek Tan, one of the 40 exchange students from Purdue University of the United States, was impressed by Shanghai's urban planning during his five-month study at the School of Mechanical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The students experienced Chinese cooking, Kunqu Opera and Karaoke singing, and visited Shanghai Museum and explored other local sites. They took Chinese lessons at the university's main campus in Xujiahui and attended academic classes at its suburban campus in Minhang District.
Shuttling between the two campuses gave these foreign students a big impression of the city's rapid development.
Since 2003, more than 500 students from Purdue University have studied at Shanghai Jiao Tong University on exchange programs.
