Expo Park opens for trial in April
WORLD Expo organizers will open the park for three trial days next April before the six-month fair officially opens in May next year, today's Laodong Daily reported.
Visitors will be increased in each operation from 200,000 to 500,000, the newspaper quoted Hong Hao, director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, as saying.
As planned, venue construction will be finished by the year's end and the focus next year will move to arranging interior exhibitions and testing power and logistics.
The organizer is optimistic about ticket sales – so far 12 million have been sold this year, beating the organizer's target of 10 million. Starting next year, discount tickets will be on offer, according to Chen Xianjin, the bureau's vice director.
