Expo lottery due to debut on Friday

THE Shanghai World Expo-themed welfare lottery will start selling across the nation on Friday, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.

Two sales points will be set up in Shanghai at the Grand Gateway shopping mall in Xujiahui area and the Thumb Plaza in Pudong.

The tickets, with 17 designs of four series of themes, will sell at prices varying from 5 yuan (US$0.73) to 20 yuan, the report said.

Up to 65 percent of revenue from ticket sales will be pooled as prize money.

The rest will be donated to May 12 earthquake-affected areas in Sichuan Province, according to rules set by China's Ministry of Civil Affairs.
