Expo passports now on sale
INDUSTRIAL and commercial authorities said today that they have negotiated with the 2010 World Expo organizers to increase sales of Expo passports through official souvenir stores.
Earlier, visitors complained that it's hard for them to buy an Expo passport legally, while scalpers have been making a fortune.
The Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau said that its investigation showed that the production volume of the Expo passports couldn't meet demand, while souvenir stores were not willing to sell passports because of the high tax rate.
Officials said the bureau and Expo organizers have agreed to simplify procedures to allow stores to sell Expo passports.
The new version of the Expo passports, which went on sale last week, does not feature pavilion images on inside pages.
