Expo scam
A JAPANESE businessman stood trial yesterday after being accused of defrauding 60 million yen (US$658,300) from a man in the name of a 2010 World Expo company staff member.
Atsuya Awazu, along with his Chinese driver, pretended to be employees of a company they claimed to be connected with the Expo organizer. They told the victim they could gain rights for the commercial use of Expo land at low prices, according to the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court. The two were charged with contract fraud.
