Expo store gets closed down for tickets fiasco
A STORE selling licensed World Expo products has been shut down for buying and selling complimentary tickets in Expo gift packs, an official said yesterday.
The store, on Madang Road, Luwan District, has become the first licensed Expo products outlet in the city to be closed for violating the license agreement, according to an official surnamed Xin with the Expo Licensed Products Management Office.
The store was shuttered on Monday. It was owned by Shanghai Kuzai Company. Authorities also suspended the company's license to sell Expo products.
Xin said the store set up a sign saying it would buy tickets from people who received an Expo gift pack.
The store bought the tickets for 100 yuan (US$14.6) each. It then sold them for 160 yuan each, without letting customers know that the tickets were complimentary ones.
