Extra trains added to Line 1
THE interval between trains along seven northern stations on Metro Line 1 will be reduced by about half by the end of the year, a newspaper reported today.
The Metro operator hopes to include the seven stations into the current smaller circuit between Xinzhuang Station and Shanghai Railway Station with a wait of two minutes and 45 seconds between trains. Now, passengers have to wait more than five minutes between trains when traveling between Shanghai Railway Station and Tonghe Xincun Station.
In the meantime the trains will be expanded from six carriages to eight to ease overcrowding at morning and evening peak hours.
