Eying Nordic skill
CHINA will seek further collaboration with Nordic countries on energy saving and emission reduction, experts said at a Nordic-Chinese Energy and Climate Day forum yesterday at the Expo site.
China is in need of information about solar thermal power generation and low-carbon emission construction technologies from the Scandinavians.
The experts also said that a low-carbon emission lifestyle was expected to prevail in China by 2030.
Nordic countries have not only the world's leading energy-saving technologies, but also healthy city development models, both good examples for Chinese people, said Dr Jiang Kejun, an expert with the Energy Research Institute in the National Development and Reform Commission.
"For example, Shenyang in Liaoning Province has started collaboration with Denmark to establish buildings with nearly zero carbon emissions," Jiang said.
He said although new technologies are usually expensive, China's growing GDP and huge market will help it afford the costs which will fall if the technology is widely installed.
