Fake luxury bags seller sent to jail
A MAN has been sentenced to six months in prison for selling bogus luxury-brand bags worth more than 617,000 yuan (US$93,202) in front of a local supermarket.
He was also fined 5,000 yuan and had the 83 bags confiscated, the Pudong New Area People's Court said yesterday. The 22-year-old, who was not named, sold copies of luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Chanel, for 100 to 120 yuan outside Carrefour Jinqiao outlet. The genuine article can retail for 5,900 yuan to 233,000 yuan.
