Fan breaks nose in fight with wife
A FOOTBALL fan ended up in a local hospital with a broken nose after a fight with his wife over which TV channel to watch.
But he chose not to seek treatment while his team was still involved in the World Cup.
The fan, surnamed Zhang, eventually went to a local plastic surgery hospital yesterday with his wife.
"The best time to reset his broken nose back had passed," a hospital spokesman said, "and he had to have an operation."
Zhang's favorite team, England, was knocked out on Monday night by Germany.
His nose got broken on June 13 when England played the United States. Liu, his wife, had wanted to see another channel and had reached out for the remote control.
"I was feeling very depressed as England could not win over the opponent at that very moment," said Zhang.
"I do not know why he got so angry that time," said Liu who said her husband was usually good-tempered.
In the struggle, Zhang's nose was hit hard by the remote control.
Zhang's was an extreme case but an increasing number of fans are turning up at the hospital for various reasons.
Some were suffering skin diseases triggered by staying up late and getting little sleep, while others wanted tattoos of team logos removed.
