Female corpse needs an ID
SHANGHAI police want the public's help in identifying a dead pregnant woman whose remains were found in the Huangpu River. The police said the woman, estimated to have been 25 to 35 years old, 1.6 meters tall, had been dead with her 9-month pregnancy for months before being found in the water. However, no identification was found on the body.
The woman died at the beginning of this year, according to the autopsy. Police found the body last month near the border of the Hongkou and Yangpu Districts after being tipped off by witnesses. Police haven't ruled out homicide, but the cause of death is unclear. The police said they hope residents could provide information about the woman, or women who went missing after getting pregnant last year. Informants can get a reward up to 20,000 yuan (US$2,930) if the information proves valuable, the police said.
