Festival gathers premieres from around the world
WORLD premieres will be along 55 shows from domestic and overseas groups to be seen during the 11th Shanghai International Arts Festival next month.
"Men's Dance for Women" from Les Ballets de Monte Carlo will make its world premiere during the festival, China News Agency reported yesterday.
First appearances in Asia include the tango "The Day an Angel Came to Buenos Aires" by Inaki Urlezaga and Ballet Concierto, the modern dance "Tenderhook" by Scottish Dance Theater and drama "Dogville" by the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in Munich.
The Chinese-Japanese collaboration on traditional Kunqu opera "The Peony Pavilion" featuring kabuki master Tamasaburo Bando will be staged on November 17-22 at Shanghai Lyceum Theater.
