Field day for coupon scalpers

SCALPERS of all kinds and from all sectors are plunging headlong into the lucrative, if seasonal, mooncake coupon business.
Local office workers are complaining that their office fax machines are flooded with all kinds of leaflets sent randomly by companies selling mooncake coupons at wholesale prices, while commuters grapple with coupon scalpers doing their business near metro stations.
"For this month, we have all joined the mooncake coupon business," said a scalper on Nanjing Road E., who "normally" sells fake brand products, including Armani jeans and Louis Vuitton bags.
"It's risky to sell those clothes, bags and watches, while not many people buy them. Mooncake coupons are different during this season - many are eager to sell, many are eager to buy."
Some coupon companies are promoting their new business by sending advertising leaflets to random fax numbers to reach companies and offices.
