Fight turns violent on Metro line

POLICE said a man has been caught in an attack on another man over a dispute onboard a Metro train during yesterday's morning rush.

The injured man, who suffered slashes and cuts on the arms and back, was stable after treatment, police said.

Police said they were alerted yesterday by 8:55am that a passenger was injured in a train on Metro Line 2 riding from Tangzhen station to Guanglan Road station.

Police found that two passengers, surnamed as Liu and Yu, first had a quarrel about 8am as "the carriage was crowded then."

Soon the quarrel developed into a fight, said witnesses, who described the scene online later. Other passengers tried unsuccessfully to persuade the two men to stop, said witnesses.

An online picture showed that blood was shed on the train floor. Passengers described the fight as violent.

"Suddenly one man took out a palm-sized object and stabbed other's arm two times," said one rider, who said the object looked like something worn for style, but with a sharp edge.
