Film actor held for drunk driving in Shanghai

Shanghai police have confirmed that China's well-known film actor Wang Zhiwen was caught last night for drunk driving.

Wang is the second Chinese showbiz celebrity seized for drunk driving after Gao Xiaosong, a renowned Beijing composer, songwriter and director, was sentenced to six months in prison for the same offense last year.
Someone tweeted on Weibo.com this morning that Wang was caught by police conducting a spot check on Hongxu Road last night, outside Laowaijie 101, a popular haunt among local expatriates. He also posted a photo in which Wang looked very drunk with a red face.
Shanghai police said this morning that they did catch a man surnamed Wang for drunk driving around 11:50pm yesterday and had taken his blood sample for test. China Central Television later said Shanghai police confirmed the man is Wang Zhiwen.
Wang, 46, has starred in many Chinese films and TV plays. He rose to stardom for his lead role in "Satisfying A Craving," a TV series made in 1993.
