GAS leaks and fire are among the domestic dangers that most worry city residents, officials said yesterday.
The Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau has received reports from concerned residents highlighting safety risks.
Residents are very conscious of the risks of fire and gas leaks. They complain about fire extinguishers that don't work, inflammable materials being stored in buildings and fire passages blocked. Local civil affairs authorities are to carry out risk assessments for neighborhoods this year to update emergency response plans.
