Fire damages popular restaurant in Jing'an

A FIRE started at Xiaolulu Restaurant this morning on Yan'an Road in Jing'an District.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in 15 minutes as restaurant employees called emergency services immediately.

Too much grease in the kitchen's exhaust pipes is believed to be the cause of the fire.

No one was injured.

The restaurant's waiters and cooks said they were preparing for the lunch crowd when the fire started.

A chef was frying food with oil at a very high temperature. Flames ignited the grease that had accumulated in the exhaust pipes, which lead to the roof of the building.

Employees said they called police and used extinguishers to help put out the fire.

An employee said the popular restaurant will be closed for a short time to repair the damage.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
