Firefighting Ban For Under-18s
SHANGHAI lawmakers are to ban minors (under-18s) from working in firefighting units.
A draft of the revised Fire Service Act before the standing committee of the Shanghai People's Congress stipulates that any organization or person has a duty to help firefighting, but organizing minors to fight fires is prohibited.
Anyone breaking the rules could face a warning or fines from 2,000 yuan (US$294) to 200,000 yuan.
Shanghai will be the first area in the country to pass a law banning minors.
