First batch of Expo tickets on way

THE first batch of free World Expo tickets is being distributed today and recipients will be able to visit as early as June 1, the local government said yesterday.
The gift packs, which also include a 200-yuan (US$29.30) public transport card, a thank-you letter, an Expo map and a souvenir Haibao badge, will be first distributed in the Pudong New Area, Huangpu, Luwan and Jinshan districts and Chongming County.
Residents in these areas will have their tickets by the end of this month, officials said.
Residents in other areas will be visiting the Expo in July and August.
An original scheme to have the visits over four months was amended to three after some citizens complained that September visits would be after the summer holidays.
