Five more detained in diesel fuel thefts
SHANGHAI police have detained five people and accused them of stealing nearly 10 tons of diesel fuel from trucks in Songjiang District.
Police said the gang was connected to suspects caught earlier this year. The five most recent suspects, who were detained on July 21, were led by two men surnamed Chen and Zhou. Police said they admitted stealing diesel some 150 times over the last several months.
Police had detained 29 people for diesel stealing previously, and found that there were still several accomplices at large. Officers soon identified Chen and Zhou and learned that they often drove in the middle of the night to an area where they stole diesel from the tanks of trucks parked around gas stations.
The other suspects are accused of selling the fuel.
