Five sex slaves rescued by police

FIVE abducted women – including two minors – were rescued from a prostitution gang during a police raid in Changning District.

Police seized 24 suspects linked to seven gangs involved in abducting women for the sex trade, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.

The seven gangs were in close contact with each other, police said.

They rescued one woman, called Qian Li, on July 24, who said she was abducted from Hubei Province and forced into prostitution.

After tip-offs from Qian, police targeted a residence in Minhang as the den and found six gangs active there, the report said.

Two gangs abducted, bought and sent women to Shanghai while four other gangs arranged the prostitution work.

Police also went to Hubei Province to catch another gang which abducted and sold women there.
