Flooding forces closure of dozens of city parks

More than 60 parks across the city were shut down today due to serious flooding, the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau said.

Shanghai Guyi Garden, Binjiang Forest Park, Shanghai Zoo, Chenshan Botanic Garden, Gongqing Forest Park, Zhongshan Park, Jing'an Park, Jing'an Sculpture Park, Guilin Park, Zhabei Park, Caoyang Park, Xinzhuang Park and Daning Lingshi Park were among the parks closed.

A fireworks display originally scheduled for Sunday at Century Park in the Pudong New Area will go ahead tonight as planned, said Sun Jiayi, a park official.
