Food poisoning blamed on soup
SOUP has been pinpointed as the source of an outbreak of food poisoning on Tuesday that affected more than 90 employees of a Dutch architecture company in Minhang District, officials said yesterday.
The district's food and drug administration said levels of sodium nitrite in white gourd and salted pork soup at the Hunter Douglas office canteen were far in excess of permitted amounts. Sodium nitrite is strictly limited in pork salting and can be fatal if more than 3 grams is taken. An investigation is continuing.
