Food poisoning ruled out in kids' mysterious illness
FOOD poisoning has been ruled as the cause of 10 children from a kindergarten in Xuhui District falling sick after the health authority checked their food and water sources, Xinmin.cn reported.
The children of the Huicheng kindergarten started suffering vomitting and diarrhea on Tuesday afternoon, an unnamed parent told the Website.
Her four-year-old daughter was treated at Dahua Hospital and was released on Wednesday. Medication did not seem effective, the parent said.
Parents guessed the sickness could be caused by lunch which included eels.
But health officials ruled out that possibility. An official surnamed Ge from Xuhui's food and drug administration told the Website children from eight classes at the kindergarten ate the meal, while the sick children were from just one class.
Checks of the lunch found no signs of contamination.
Ge said the sickness could be caused by a disease.
A few teachers also developed the same symptoms, she noted.
