Four arrested over gourmet powder robbery

FOUR people have been arrested for allegedly robbing 350,000 tons of gourmet powder from a storehouse in Minhang District.

Wearing masks, they stormed into the storehouse for salt and gourmet powder around 8pm on September 3, bound the hands of the three staff and taped their mouths, then stole the powder, todays Shanghai Morning Post reported.

The robbers' Fujian Province accent led police to one of the storehouse owner's clients, Ling Sixin, a Fujian native. Ling, 26, was caught on September 27.

Ling allegedly confessed to the police he had schemed the robbery.

The thieves sold the powder, valued at 350,000 yuan (US$44,000), for 190,000 yuan.
