France's Sarkozy Joins Fete

SEVERAL foreign leaders, including French President Nicolas Sarkozy, will attend the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo scheduled for April 30, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said yesterday.
The foreign leaders will attend the ceremony while on their visits to China, Jiang told a regular press conference in Beijing.
Sarkozy will pay a three-day China visit as guest of President Hu Jintao. He will kick off his visit from Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, and attend the Expo opening ceremony on April 30, said Jiang.
Some foreign politicians taking part in Expo-related activities will also attend the opening ceremony, she added.
