Freighter stuck
SHANGHAI border police said yesterday a foreign freighter tilted and became stranded at the mouth of the Yangtze River on Wednesday.
Its 12 crew members from Germany, Ukraine, Romania, Myanmar and the Philippines were rescued amid high winds. No one was injured, police said. The ship was still stuck in the shallow waters of the estuary as of late yesterday and the local maritime department was working to set it afloat. Maritime officials said strong winds may have caused the crew to lose control of the anchor and the ship began to tilt. The unloaded ship was coming to Shanghai from South Korea.
