A job fair was kicked off Wednesday at Antai College of Economics and Management of Shanghai Jiao Tong University with about 50 French companies in participation.

The 2-day “French Open Day” event is organized by the CCI France Chine not only to help companies recruiting key talents and enhance their reputation among Chinese future workers, but also to help students learn more about French companies and French culture, according to Javier Gimeno, President of CCI France Chine and General Delegate of Saint-Gobain Asia Pacific.

Besides the job fair, corporation conferences are also held with speakers from French companies to promote their expertise and knowhow.

Laura Cure, a French student who is studying Chinese and business at Jiao Tong, said she would like to stay in Shanghai after graduation and was glad to see plentiful of potential opportunities as there are so many French companies in Shanghai.

Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, France Ambassador to China, also attended the opening ceremony.

“China is an important partner for France,” said the ambassador, “Both the countries face the challenge of globalization, which urges us to know better about ourselves and each other.”

There are 1,600 French companies in China, offering about 600,000 jobs, he said.

About 35,000 Chinese students are studying in France every year, which is expected to increase to 50,000 by 2020.
