Fudan announces rectification measures over mismanaged funds

Fudan University today reported a series of rectification measures after central disciplinary authorities in July said one of the country’s leading schools had mismanaged scientific research funds and poorly supervised campus infrastructure work and school-run companies.

An investigation found that 25 scientific research projects had repeatedly applied for funds via multiple channels between 2008 and 2013. Two projects used four old patents and claimed they were the result of new research.

The university said it had talked to the people in charge of the research projects and punished them according to regulations. It didn?t provide details. An employee in the laboratory animal department faces a criminal trial over allegations of involvement in unspecified illegal offenses.
