Games addict with a gun jailed for 10 years
AN electronic-game addict who robbed a games parlor at gunpoint has been jailed for 10 years, Songjiang District People's Court said yesterday. Jiang Qi, a local native in his early thirties, had become addicted to electronic games and spent all the money his parents gave him playing games.
He'd found it hard to find a job after completing a prison sentence and was living with his parents, the court heard. Last September, Jiang went to a games parlor and tried to force open a machine to get the coins inside after he had run out of money. A staff member tried to stop him, but Jiang threatened him with a gun and forced him to hand over 50 yuan. Jiang then continued to play, the court heard. But after he lost that money he again tried to steal coins from the machines and threatened another staff member with the gun, the court was told.
