Games server owner nabbed for online theft
SHANGHAI police said today they have caught a man who allegedly ran an illegal games server and made profits by selling virtual equipment stolen from game players.
The suspect surnamed Ling set up the server in late 2010 to attract players to his online games. He gained access to the accounts of many players, stole their virtual tools and weapons and sold them to other players for money, police said.
Ling earned more than 150,000 yuan this way, the police added.
