Gas explosion injuries two in Yangpu District
A woman and a child were injured in a gas explosion in an old house in Yangpu District this morning, Xinmin Evening News reported.
Police said the 27-year-old woman surnamed Lin was about to have a shower when the water heater triggered the explosion around 7am.
Lin suffered burns over 45 percent of her body and was rushed to a hospital. She is in stable condition this afternoon.
The blast destroyed Lin's bathroom and hurt a 10-year-old child in the lane, who was also sent to the hospital. The huge sound of the explosion woke up residents from their siesta two blocks away, witnesses said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
