Gas explosion kills 1, injures 4

ONE man was killed and four others were injured in a gas explosion in a residential building yesterday in Changning District, police said.
The injured, including a baby and the grandparents, were listed in stable condition in hospital.
They were in an alley outside the building and hit by flying pieces of glass when the blast occurred, a witness said.
The explosion happened about 1pm on the fifth floor of a building on Wuyi Road. A gas leak caused the explosion, police said.
The dead man was carried out of the building at 1:30pm. He was in his 30s and rented the room, neighbors said. The windows of his room were shattered and some of his possessions were scattered outside.
The force of the explosion also blew out windows in a building across the street.
Police are investigating.
