Girl breaks spine in fall from school

A GRADE 9 pupil fractured her spine after falling from the fourth floor of Kongjiang Middle School in Yangpu District this morning.
She is under treatment in Xinhua Hospital. Classmates said she was caught cheating in a test and jumped from the building, falling into a flower bed.
She was immediately rushed to Xinhua Hospital and transferred to the orthopedics ward from the Intensive Care Unit this afternoon.
Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.
Eight students died after falling from buildings last year in Shanghai, education authorities said in an earlier safety report.
