THE activity designed by the Shanghai Tourism Bureau to give 99 reasons for loving Shanghai has become popular on the Internet with netizens submitting more than 21 million reasons as of yesterday.
About 40 percent of the participants said they love Shanghai because of its scenic attractions, such as Lujiazui skyscrapers, the Bund, and backstreet lanes covered by autumn leaves.
Some said they love Shanghai for its local delicacies and others love the city for abundant opportunities to realize their dreams.
The tourism bureau officials said they began to classify the reasons they had received online and the activity will run through January 1 next year.
