Graduate starting salaries on the up
UNIVERSITY graduates see starting salaries increased at multinational corporations this year amid growing demand for employees and soaring inflation.
The average starting salary for graduates at multinational corporations stood at 3,358 yuan this year - a 17.25 percent increase over last year, according to a survey released yesterday.
Shanghai produced 175,000 graduates this year, a 4 percent year-on-year increase.
In the meantime, the demand for graduates is also growing. The Shanghai Education Commission has identified 240,000 job vacancies for college graduates, one -third more than last year.
Openings at foreign firms have risen by 20 percent this year, according to the survey on 500 overseas companies.
"With the economic recovery, lots of enterprises are offering more openings," said Geng Junhua, an analyst with the China International Intellectech Corporation, which published the survey.
