Growing number of local doctors from state-funded hospitals now service in private counterparts

MORE medical experts at state-owned city-level hospitals are starting to work in private hospitals after the government furthered a health reform that allowing doctors to work in more than one hospital.

The new thing is that experts also started to work in domestic-invested private hospitals instead of only choosing high-end international hospitals and joint venture hospitals as their second working place.

Previously, doctors are only allowed to work in the medical facility which they are registered.

Under the reform, doctors can work in more than one hospital for better income as well as resulting in a better sharing of limited medical resources.

Shanghai Hongkang Hospital, a Fujian businessmen invested private hospital, become the first private hospital with large number of medical experts working as their second serving facility. A group of urologists in leading state-owned hospitals came to the hospital for regular out-patient and surgery service, allowing nearby residents to enjoy high quality service in their neighborhood instead of going all the way to state-owned hospitals.
