Guard arrested in security scam
A SECURITY guard who allegedly attempted to cheat a local company by posing as a government official has been arrested, Songjiang District prosecutors said yesterday.
Lu Yongquan, 49, was a company security guard and a lottery addict who owed a debt of more than 100,000 yuan (US$14,640). To pay the debt, he disguised as a town government official and went to Yungtay Elevator Co on April 6. He asked the company to pay 500,000 yuan as earnest money for Expo security. He promised to return the money if no safety accidents happen until Expo ends. The company, suspicious, called police.
