Haitian folk at its best
HAITI'S best folk bands have been invited to perform at the Expo to celebrate its National Pavilion Day on Sunday.
The pavilion will also join with other pavilions to celebrate the National Day of the Caribbean Community Pavilion on Saturday.
Haiti's participation in the National Day celebrations aims to show the strong heart of its people who are rebuilding their country after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake six months ago, said Madeleine Germain, the pavilion's director.
Germain said they didn't want to miss the opportunity to celebrate its National Pavilion Day although the Haiti people were having a tough time after the earthquake.
The first Haiti folk music show will take place at the Expo Center at 5:45pm on Saturday, and there will be another show at the America Square in Zone C at 7:50pm on Sunday.
Germain is inviting Chinese investors to develop new business with Haiti, with preferential policies for investors in the textile industry.
Pierre Dunbar, director of Haiti's Ministry of Commerce, said many Haiti people were still living in tents six months after the earthquake.
"The only way to help Haiti people rebuild the country is to provide them with more job opportunities by absorbing more foreign investment."
