HEAT pump to beat winter chill
A RESEARCH team at Shanghai Jiao Tong University has developed an electric heat pump for winter use that is being touted as an alternative to air conditioners.
The first batch of the new products was launched yesterday at a plant of Linuo Paradigma (Shanghai) New Energy Co Ltd, the retailer of the new product. The pump consists of three parts - an outdoor unit, a water tank and an inside unit. It integrates the three functions of cooling, heating and hot water supply. The products are priced at around 25,000 yuan (US$4,073) each, suitable for a family with an apartment size of 100 square meters.
