High drama on elevated road as man dangles midair from a rope

Firefighters had to be called in to rescue a man who was found dangling precariously from a rope from an elevated highway on Monday morning.
Police were informed about the incident which happened on the elevated highway near Gonghexin Road and Zhongshan Road N. at 9:40am. Pictures posted online showed firefighters had put up an emergency air cushion below the man.
Police later said the man was not injured but the motive for his action was still unclear.
A witness said that at about 9:30am the man fixed one end of the rope to the elevated highway and slowly came down the rope on the other end, xinmin.cn said.
“I first thought he was a maintenance worker,” a sanitation worker said. “But he kept hanging in the air and then more people gathered to watch.
The police said investigation was ongoing.
